I have found a wonderful path along this artistic journey. It begin by creating some metal art inspired by those affected by breast cancer. This path is filled with women surviving and fighting for something alot of us have taken for granted: Life. I had an opportunity to showcase my art in an event hosted by Krystal Carter, a new and dear friend. Krystal recently lost her mother to breast cancer and as a homage to her first nurse, teacher, and comforter, wanted to pay respect while raising funds for research and awareness of this disease.
Well, as a featured artist, it was only befitting that I contribute to the cause. I decided to create metal works in pink as inspiration. Pink, a color that I rarely used in my works before became the base, the foundation at which all of new found, meaningful art began. After the first show, then second, then third I realized, even more, how much my art now deemed "Survivor" (a series of metal art to inspire those affected by breast cancer) could magnify joy, triumph, and encouragement in others. This feels GOOD!!! I realize that with this GOD-given talent comes responsibility, to inspire someone in a positive way over and over again. I have been enlightened of the causes/prevention/affects of breast cancer. Often, I research information about the condition and read numerous stories about the battle fought by many. It reminds me to always remain in GRATITUDE because each day is always an opportunity to magnify Life! 2011 has started on the right foot. With each step that I take, each art that I create, and each smile to a face, Life is worth living.....
